Taking it to the next level...

HUGE congrats to my girlfriend who has been making great strides in her racing career. She had been riding a GSXR-1000 for the past year or more (I've posted it before). Recently her dad sold her 1000 and purchased a Hayabusa for her. Wow, looking to adopt J.E.???

Her dad has been racing in a series up in Oregon and she recently made the journey up there to watch him at Finals and to participate in a little racing of her own. This is her first time down the track with her busa and literally three out of four times she had ridden that weekend. She's a born natural!

She opted to race in the event as opposed to just racing time only's. She was doing great, cutting a 0.10 off her time each qualifing run. As great as that sounds, it also means when it comes to dial-in (since she was racing ET) it becomes very difficult to pick a dial-in time. After much discussion they agreed on a dial-in of 10.80.

Well, she ended up breaking out with a 10.7 and consequently told her dad she knew she should have dialed quicker. These moments are always bitter sweet, because your happy as heck that you broke out and ran quicker then you predicted... but it also sucks because you inevitably lost. Needless to say, the guy she raced dialed an 9.80 and she tree'd him (big time). After the race he came over and told her that he didn't think he had anything to worry about with her and was WRONG!

Way to go, girl! I am so proud of you and CONGRATS on moving up the busa! That's ROCKS!

For everyone else, let me remind you that this was her first time at the track on a busa and one (1) of a hand full of times she had ridden it that weekend. This girl has talent and my prediction is this: IF SHE STICKS WITH IT, WE'LL SEE HER RACING PRO IN NO TIME!

Not to steal the glory from her dad, as he won the Championship in the series he had been racing in Oregon! HUGE Congrats to him! He is a TRUE inspiration to those that know him and to those that don't... they will!

Much LOVE to the whole ENGLAND family!

This too shall pass...

We have officially sold black beauty and I am currently without wheels. She went to a good home, a guy bought it for his wife. He called to tell us his wife won't let him get near it and that she loves it! I am so happy she went to a good home, makes the separation a little easier to deal with.

As sad as it is, the future looks bright. We are saving up to buy a GSXR-1000 which will more then make-up for the loss. For those of you who are familiar with my drag racing goals, this DEFINITELY follows suit. I set three goals at the beginning of 2006:
  1. Win a race
  2. Be consistent
  3. Upgrade to a GSXR-1000

We are nearing the end of 2006 and I managed to achieve (or in the process of achieving) all of my goals. #2 is always an ongoing goal and the rest happened purely by circumstance. Overall, not too bad for 2006!

I will post new information or pics as they happen.

Stay tuned...

NMRA 10th Annual Northern Challenge / 7.1.06

What a great weekend, the weather was beautiful and we were blessed with a 4 day weekend! Saturday, NMRA came to town and my hubby fronted my entrance and racing fees. What would I do without him (in more ways then one). Thank you sweetheart! As usual I raced in the Street ET class! The bike turnout was fairly low, but close to what we anticipated. As a bonus some very dear friends of ours were there to enjoy the day with us!

The day started out as any other race day, getting everything packed and ready to go. Only this time the kids decided they wanted to go too! Very cool! So off we all go to the track to enjoy a day of racing with family and friends! Once we get to the track, we unpack and for the most part relax. The wait before race time is always longer then they say, but who's complaining!

I go through my normal routine. Wipe down my bike, strap it and make sure I am ready to go! Our first qualifying run comes up and I run a fairly decent number (I'll post times a little later, I don't have the time slips with me at the moment). But as my runs continue (some qualifying, some time only) one thing becomes very apparent... I am consistent. Which rocks, beyond belief. I've been struggling to get consistent since my accident and today is the day! WooHoo!

All in all, I made it to the FINALS and I dialed an 11.00 - I ran an 11.02 @ 130 mph. My opponent broke out, which means he ran quicker then he dialed. This was bad for him, because that means I WON, but good for him because he said it was the best he'd ever run! Congrats, good competition always makes you push yourself. On this run, I was on my mark. I launched fairly well, decent (although not great) 60' time and hit all my shift points which equals me running pretty darn close to my dial-in time. Either way, enough to bring home the win!

As I made my way back to our pits, I could see my husband running out to great me with the Trophy in his hands. That vision made me a) so proud to be able to win for him and b) to get my first OFFICIAL WIN! I got a trophy and everything! As I got closer to my hubby he motioned for me to go around the front of the tower for photos. When I rounded the curve all our family and friends were standing there cheering for me! It was the BEST! As I prepped for photos (can't be having helmet hair) my husband and kids joined me for the pic and to my surprise, so did Karen Stoffer. How wonderful to have a sincere Congrats from a women representing the very career I long to participate in! THANK YOU!

I really could not have done it without my husband. He has given me all the knowledge and courage to be my best! THANK YOU HONEY, I LOVE YOU! Special thanks to our kids for being there and being patient with mom! And thank you to all our friends for being there and celebrating this long awaited victory!

I will post photos or links to photos as soon as I have them!

NMRA Winter Challenge / 5.13.06

What an amazing weekend! Aside from getting the best Mother's Day present, it was just an good weekend. Although we received some weird information about some friends of ours, it was overall good. My husband stayed true to his comment of letting me race on Saturday, which I am absolutely elated about. Not just because I got to race, but due to many reasons. 1) It was my first NMRA race, 2) our starter was KAREN STOFFER (she got her start in drag racing through NMRA), 3) it was my mommy's day present, 4) I got a GREAT 60' time (for me) and last but not least I just LOVE racing.

First, let me say Karen is wonderful. Not only did she tough it out at the races with us (it was warm outside), she also worked the tree for us. She is such a great person and an equally great racer! It was wonderful to be able to share our day of racing with her. Thanks Karen for everything!

The temperature was around 93 degrees, so the air was not very good.

Now down to some #'s:
.297 reaction, 2.094 60' = 11.64 ET @ 124.1 mph (this run was on a 4/10th - Pro tree)
-.824 reaction, 1.957 60' = 11.00 ET @ 128.7 mph (RED LIGHT, this time they changed the light to a 5/10th tree - THANKS)
.018 reaction, 2.046 60' = 11.79 ET @ 114.2 mph (GREAT LIGHT, too bad I hit the rev limiter too many times)
.136 reaction, 1.770 60' = 10.88 ET @ 127.9 mph (FANTASTIC RUN, my best 60' time EVER) - Back in the 10s WOOHOO
-.031 reaction, 1.954 60' = 11.34 ET @ 127.3 mph (Not bad, too bad I was just a tad quicker then the light!)

That does it for qualifing, now it's time to average out and DIAL a time. 11.00 sounds about right!
.249 reaction, 2.003 60' = 11.44 ET @ 124.5 mph (Overall, not a bad run despite the fact that I hit the rev limiter twice) I LOST... boohoo

Time ONLY run
-.670 reaction, 2.229 60' = 11.69 et @ 125.2 mph (We asked for a 5/10th tree and got a 4/10th tree...)
By the time we got to this time of day I was lucky to be standing. I was exhausted from the heat and battling a massive headache. So I'm not too disheartened with this run, but know I could have done better.

MUCH LOVE AND THANKS TO MY FAMILY! I LOVE YOU!

What a great weekend. We had a GREAT time and my hubby said a few of my runs actually got Karen's attention. Plus I got my BEST 60' time ever and back in the 10s. I'm stoked! What a fantastic Mother's Day gift!

Happy Mother's Day (to me)...

I am blessed and if I don't say so myself, so is my husband.

We were lovingly discussing Mother's Day yesterday (Thursday) and he asks "so what do you want for mommys day?". I smiled BIG because I had been waiting for the question. You see... we have a race in our area tomorrow and I've been wanting to race in it, but as previously posted finances are not conducive to that activity right now. So when he asked I already knew what I wanted. When I told him I wanted to race, he smiled and said "do you have any money?"... to which I replied "no, that's what I want for Mothers Day... that is my gift. You pay my way to race on Saturday"... He smiled again, chuckled and said "Ok". So hopefully, he was serious and I'll get to race Saturday and still spend a WONDERFUL day with my family on Sunday!

But seriously how many women ask to RACE as their Mother's Day gifts? Most women want flowers, candy or jewlry EVEN on Mommys Day. But not me, all I want to do is RACE!

I LOVE my husband...

It goes without saying that I love my husband, but he really knows (sometimes) just what to do or say that makes me feel so good. This weekend was no exception! We were not only blessed with beautiful weather, but he offered to pay my way into the races on Saturday. I was so excited! He was racing test-n-tune Saturday afternoon (4/29) and grudge fest that night. He asked if I wanted to race and I reminded him of my financial status - BROKE - and he said "my treat". Who would say no to that?? So I took him up on his offer. I ran some errands in the afternoon and got to the track around 2pm. I hung out and about 3:30 got ready for grudge fest. My first run, as were all my others... pretty crappy, but hey I was racing so I'm not gonna complain.

1st: .242 reaction, 2.136 60' = 11.56 @ 122.89 mph
2nd: .298 reaction, 2.067 60' = 11.93 @ 124.89 mph (against hubby)
3rd: .547 reaction, 2.118 60' = 11.37 @ 127.78 mph
4th: .304 reaction, 2.144 60' = 11.78 @ 122.16 mph
5th: .260 reaction, 2.283 60' = 11.52 @ 126.47 mph

My reaction stinks, but has been worse (if that's possible). Unfortunately, my 60' times are whats killing me. I can't seem to keep my body from spring boarding up when I pull my leg up to shift. I'm not sure what it is, although I'd venture to say it's my leathers. BUT that could be seen as a lame excuse. Anyways, its eating me alive trying to figure out the problem. Outside of that its practice, practice, practice.

I went back and looked at time slips prior to my accident and my 60' times were 1.8s & 1.9s. The only difference between now and then was I didn't have leathers and I didn't have the fear of crashing. There are many levels I'd like to take my bike, including: extensions, new seat, and air shifter... that all takes money! SOMEDAY!

Despite the times, I had a great day racing with friends and my hubby! Thanks babe, your the best!

AMAZING...I'm so jealous!

I'm not one to be jealous, but I have to admit I am on this.

A good friend of ours (his daughter) who is 17, well she has been riding/racing her GSX-R1000 that is slammed, has thicker clutch springs, new sprocket, extended swingarm, air shifter, some other minor modifications (no motor work), modified seat and most important a throttle stop positioned @ half throttle. There is HUGE significance in the throttle stop and I'll explain...

We got her into racing last year, previously she raced her car. Which both her and her sister were phenominal at. It runs in there family, somehow, as soon as I figure out the magic - I'M ALL OVER IT. Anyway, she has been gradually getting better and better. First she was right around my times, 10.7s - 10.8s... then she got down to 10.0s which is great. Well, this weekend she took the cake. She made the last run of the day, due to weather and popped out an incredible 9.96 @ 139mph. Now remember when I mentioned the throttle stop? The reason this has significance is because she was able to pull off a 9.96 on a stock motor GSX-R1000 with ONLY half of the power that bike can produce. Some of the guys we race have a hard time running 9.90s on a Hayabusa. Let's compare cc's - GSX-R1000 = 998.6 cc's FULL THROTTLE... vs. Hayabusa = 1299 cc's. She is pulling off amazing numbers with HALF THROTTLE and she just continues to get better.

Way to go girl!

I'm VERY excited for her, but at the same time VERY jealous. She is reaching numbers in less then a years time, that it takes people who have done this there whole life see after years and years of practice and thousands of dollars spent.

Here is a pic of her bike, before the seat mod.

RACING - Temporarily ON HOLD

Aside from the rather depressing weather we've had, I have not been racing... simply put "I can't afford to, right now". I've got so much going on in my life... that my passion for success in this category simply takes second and right now there is no room for second.

However, my husband went racing this weekend and although I support him 100%, I couldn't bear being at the track and not being able to race. He ended up going out first round, but he was able to take advantage of time only for the remainder of the day, which he was excited about.

I think it's probably safe to say this year for racing is out, unfortunately. Although I hold hope that someday within the next 12 months I will be able to committ (financially) to my race career. For now, I just need to take care of the firsts.

I'll still continue to update... but it will be geared towards my husband for now. I'm extremely proud of him and his efforts, so I'll glad keep him in the lime light!

3.11.06 Weather Update

Boy, how mother nature changes her mind, just last week the weather was predicted to be nice and in the 60's... Now according to www.weather.com, LACR website, and a lady at the Holiday Inn (approx. 15 minutes from the track) it has been raining there the last few days and per their local weather people it is forecasted to rain on Saturday.

The good news is at least we won't make a 5-6 hour drive to learn the race was cancelled due to rain, the bad news is... We won't get to race again until 3.26.06. Although, for all intensive purposes my check book could take the breather!

3.5.06 Race Postponed/Cancelled

According to www.weather.com, Sunday calls for an 80% chance of rain with highs in the mid-50's. Looks like we will not get to race the NHRA Chassisworks ET Racing Series until 3.26.06. Hopefully by then our rain will pass and we will have some nice weather to play in.

However, on the bright side... I have my first NMRA race scheduled for 3.11.06 at LACR (Los Angeles County Raceway) located in Palmdale, CA. Weather.com is calling for 0% percipitation and a high of 61 with bright sunny skies! Hooray!

Now for those of you who have never raced LACR, believe me when I tell you it is adjacent from a sand quarry (literally). So when winds hit just right, the sand blows right down the track. You can stand at the water box and watch the sand blow across the track. We have come to know this track as the "sand box"... It has it's obvious negatives, especially when your talking about hitting 130+ mph on two wheels. Most times the track is windy and hot, so your bikes sucks in all sorts of guck and your wind/sun burned by the time you get home.

Aaaaaaa, the pleasures of racing! I can't wait...

2.19.06 / NHRA Chassisworks ET Racing Series - RESULTS

Let's start by saying meterologists know nothing when it comes to the weather. They said it was going to be nice on Sunday and that Saturday would be overcast and cold. It was actually the opposite... It was beautiful on Saturday, the sun was shining with not too many clouds. Sunday was cold and cloudy and windy!

Not too many people showed up, apparently the smart ones stayed home. We had a 14 bike field which is not bad considering we've had 16 bikes on previous races. We didn't get to make our first pass until almost 2pm, which is just ridiculous. The track should have called it a "rain day" and rescheduled. They spent from 8am to 1pm drying the track and then at 2pm the said water was coming up through the cracks at the 1,000 foot mark so they took us down to an 1/8 mile... Now for those of you who do not know much about drag racing, unless you run an 1/8 mile track frequently - it SUCKS to go from 1/4 mile to 1/8th. This was my first and last experience with that. With an 1/8 mile you feel like it's over before it starts. It's just stupid and then as if that wasn't bad enough the tower could not give mph because the sensor in the right lane was not working and to be fair they eliminated mph from both lanes. CRAP!!! Now I recognize as a ET/Bracket racer it is not important to know what your mph is (per-say), however I wanted to know. So sorry charlie...

So we only got one (1) qualifying pass, so it was hit or miss with your dial time. At least it was for me, I'm still getting back down to my consistent numbers (pre-accident). I ran a 7.54 @ ???mph (remember we are running 1/8 mile times) with a crappy reaction time of .324 and an even worse 60' time of 2.169. Alrightly then, I've managed to flubb my first run of the day and now I've got to figure out what to dial... this should be fun! So after much heming and haaing, I decided to dial a 7.45, what they heck I figure - sounds good. So I draw SP, who incidentally beat me last race... but as usual my morale is high and I remind myself that anything can happen in racing. So I put my game face on and we line up... I'm out of the hole and on my way. I get to leave before him because he's incredibly faster then me. So I'm in it and I'll be damned if I'm letting off this time. So I go through the 1/8 mile light, which feels like I just got into the groove and to my surprise... WHAT?? That can't be right... I got the win light.. I am so stoked! I beat him, I beat him, I scream to myself in my helmet! WooHoo! I can see my husband coming back on the return road and he won his too, so now we are both going on to the second round. What a marvelous day! Funny how quickly the day turned from crap to gold! :) HA HA

Me and my hubby are so excited! We can't wait to see who we are paired with in the second round. We find our way to the ladder and to our surprise... we are paired! Can this day get any better, I ask you??? We always love the times we get to run against each other, last time I beat him so in his mind it was his turn to beat me. We'll see, I said. So we get out there, line up and as with SP I get to leave first because my hubby is way faster then me (even in the 1/8). So I'm out of the hole and on my way and I hear him coming up quick... my adrenaline is pumping and I start overthinking my movements. I missed a shift and when I got back in it I spun the tire. Well, HELLO - that's a new feeling. I've felt the off the line spin, but never the middle of the track spin. Definitely a new feeling! Anyways, he beat me and he was so excited, not only because of the obvious but because he was going on to the semi-finals. I'm so proud of him and so excited at least one of us gets to move on to the next round.

Don't think for a single moment he doesn't remind me who won... "yes, honey you beat me... you kicked my butt". But I guess I did the same to him, so what goes around comes around, right?

So now I'm just happy to get out of my leathers and into some comfy jeans. I get settled and it's his turn to go back up for semi's. He drew MO who is a good bracket racer. He knows to beat MO he has to be spot on everything. They line up and my husband cuts the worst reaction time of the day... not exactly good timing honey. MO took him out and we packed up and went home to the warm house. What started out as a awful day ended up very fun!

2.5.06 / NHRA Chassisworks ET Racing Series - RESULTS

Yesterday was a beautiful day, I really could not have asked for more. The sun was shining and the track was hooking up!

Once again, I ran my best track mph and I got back into the 10's (momentarily). It was my first run of the day and as usual it was my best. I ran a 10.84 @ 133.56mph with a .321 reaction (which is not great, but gradually getting better) and a 2.050 60' time. Ok, so the reaction and 60' times were sorta crappy, but the ET and MPH were rockin' (in my opinion)!

Unfortunately, my competitive spirit got the best of me and my times went down hill from there. I hit the rev limiter more times then I care to mention and missed shifts. By the end of the day, I had ended with a wopping 12.28 ET @ 125.63mph - aaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhhhh! Total crap!

I drew a guy who is on his mark every time. Since I'm still learning the ET/Bracket racing do's and don't's, he totally played me on the track. My husband said "if he comes flying by you stay in it, if you get to the end and see him behind you - chop it"... So the whole time I'm up for my run, his comment is looping through my head. The light turns and I take off (my opponent is much quicker then me, so I get to go first). It's going well, I'm feeling pretty good and then I see him fly by me (remembering what my husband said I stayed in it, but then... the guy slows down and drops back). Immediately, I am confused "crap, what is he doing" so I chop it. Then he speeds up, so I get back in it... Long story, he beat me and totally played me on the track. My hubby said he was watching me from half track on and playing with the throttle. Oh well, I learned a valuable lesson that I won't soon forget.

My hubby did great and I'm so proud of him. He jokingly said "my goal today is to get farther then you" and he did. He went through to the second round and I went out first round. He got consistent 9.7's all day which was great! He had a lot of fun and felt good about his runs; that's what matters!

It was a fabulous day of racing and beautiful weather! Can't wait till the 19th!

Team Mascot

As our racing turns more from my husband to me, we continue to struggle with a team name. So I continue to rack my brain... the one constant that remains in our lives is our dog. She is everything to us and to say the least she is extremely spoiled. So without further adu... Say hello to Atchy - short for Be-Atchy!

She is a 2.5 year old Old English Bulldog! Yes, that is her sleeping on mom and dads bed!

ZERO GRAVITY - Sponsorship

I'm slowly building on my career as a racer! This takes more time and dedication then racing sometimes (I think). After all, they want to make sure your not some wack job out there representing their name and product. Vice versa, as a racer you want to make sure the company can meet your needs as well as be representative of the products you use and depend on.

With that said, I have acquired a small but significant (to me) sponsorship with Zero Gravity. I am very excited about representing Team Zero Gravity and the sport overall!

Thank you to my sponsors!

1.22.06 / NHRA Chassisworks ET Series - RESULTS

The day started off with me riding to the track at 7:30am, mind you the temperature of the truck rearview mirror clearly indicated 39 degrees (can you say bbbuuuuurrrrrrr)! Although as uncomfortable as that sounds it really wasn't that bad. Not to mention, my husband did give me the option to load my bike and he would ride (since we don't have a trailer to haul the bikes in yet). Nonetheless, I rode and that worked out great because I got to get comfortable on my bike again, since I haven't rode in about 3-4 months.

The day gradually got warmer, right up until the wind kicked in. OMG! It was chilly to begin with but the wind just made it downright COLD! So there we are chivering and anxiously waiting our turn to run...

My first run was not bad but not great. I ran a 11.11 @ 131.79mph with a .520 reaction time (totally sleeping at the tree) and a 2.098 60' mark - OUCH! Yeah not gonna win anything with that kinda time. So now we've run once and the chivering begins again, as the time between runs is about an hour. The next run is my last qualifying pass, I gotta get a better reaction time in order to qualify well...

Second run... I ran a .302 reaction (HOORAY!!!) that's better but alas still not good enough! However, this time I ran a 11.00 @ 132.51mph with a 60' time of 2.006 (going in the right direction). Now this has significant meaning because the fastest I've been able to run, even when I ran my 10.75 was 131mph. I reached a new track high! WooHoo!!! I am stoked!

1st Round Eliminations... did just that. Eliminated me! The ladder paired me (the second worst reaction time) to the guy with the second best reaction time! Oh crap! Only - keep hope I think, after all it is racing and anything can happen. So I put my game face on and get up to run... I dialed a 10.97 and he dialed a 11.20. I'm thinking... well if I break-out, I'll be happy and if I win I'll be happy, right?? Ordinarily that is the optimistic thing to think. Unfortunately, what I was thinking and what happened where two different things. I did a .213 out of the hole (ALRIGHT, I'm getting better) but my reaction time was worse (2.104)...CRAP! And to make the wound that much more painful... as I leave I hear him miss a shift and if I was on my game I could have maybe beat him. Unfortunately, I did not. I ran a 11.39 @ 130.45mph to his 11.30 @ 116.91mph. Overall CRAP!

Oh well... better luck next time! Now it's back to track to practice reaction and 60' times!

ET Series - Team Sacramento

Providing the weather holds out for us, looks like Sunday will be our first race of the 2006 season! It is the onset of Team Sacramento's 2006 ET Series that will run approx. every two weeks at Sacramento Raceway, Sacramento, CA. Thus far the weather says it is suppose to be sunny and I keeping my fingers crossed that for once they are correct. No tellin' what the results will be, as I've made no physical changes to the bike and have not ridden in a good 3 months. Therefore, I can only hope that the same holds true for some of the other racers. I'd at least like a shot at making it to second/third or even final round. Stay tuned Monday for an update on race results!

2006 Season

We are off to a great start this season! I was able to obtain sponsorship through Simpson Racing and Joey still maintains his sponsorship through PCP Yamaha & Suzuki. Although my sponsorship with Simpsion Racing is small, it's a start!

My first opportunity back at the track (post winter break) was set for January 1, 2006. Unfortunately, mother-nature had alternate plans and it was cancelled due to rain. The make-up date is scheduled for Sunday, January 22, 2006. Not sure if Joey will run on this day or wait until NMRA (National Motorcycle Racing Association) starts in March.

I'm considering joining Team Sacramento for ET/Bracket racing and/or NMRA. ET/Bracket racing is fun and challenging, either way!
